Acronis 2015 destroyed Windows 10 installation!

Thread needs solution

Hi,

As Windows 10 was installing I saw a brief note that Acronis 2015 "blocked or prevented..." something. Well, Windows 10 ended up with a continuous blinking screen. And trying to restore the .tib backup destroyed the Windows 10 Operating System. Now what?

Thanks,
Joe MCSE

Joe,
It wasn't Acronis that destroyed your system. Further, the software does not "block or prevent". Its a back up software, not a security suite.

Regarding your blinking screen. I've been reading posts from others about this all over the web since windows 10 was released.

Some say it has to do with BIOS revision or hardware
Some say problem or issue with your User Profile
Others, a problem with a particular software installed on the machine (something that the windows compatibility tool is missing)

I think an important step in troubleshooting might be to start the system in safe mode and see if the behavior persists. If not, I would use MSCONFIG to systematically determine what was causing the issue loading a couple of start up items at a time. I think its too early to say with certainty what is causing this behavior, but as time goes by, the issue will be identified and a work around or fix published.

Now what?
I'd restore my system from a previous back up and try again. I've done 4 upgrades. They either work or they don't. Having a full disk image back up is key for averting from a failed update to windows 10.
