Acronis 2015 Severely Broken

Thread needs solution

The software does work well for restoration. When one finally gets an image and tests that image a few times to make sure it works.

But Acronis 2015 has slowly reduced me to taking absurd measures. It was fine before the clearly beta 2015 software with 2014 and earlier versions.

I have no way of going back to 2014 as I cannot get rid of 2015. It is like some kind of virus that has corrupted my entire system.

This is not dependable software. It takes over your machine and basically renders it useless.

The entire purpose of the software of course, is to not make your machine entirely useless, but to back it up.

Here is my current routine to get this all to work.

All I care about by the way is backing up my C Drive. No real complicated demands.

Open Acronis 2015

Then get the 'there was an error last time' window and to send in a report to Acronis. What the report should contain is non defined.

My daily routine has been reduced to this:

Shut down and restart the computer.

Do a repair on Acronis 2015 every day, or else the software will not work.

Make a full backup with no scheduling because scheduling does not work.

Whenever I shut down my computer - I have to kill all Acronis software in Windows Task Manager - schedule helper, TIB mounter monitor. True image monitor - or else my computer sits in never land and won't ever shut down.

Reboot then do a backup image of drive C. Usually works well.

Next time I open Acronis it doesn't recognize the previous backup. Although the actual backup works!

I cannot remove the software even after following all the removal procedures and removal tools - because the system won't boot any more. The boot record gets screwed up after removal.

I got so sick of this I downloaded ShadowProtect to try.

Lo and behold ShadowProtect tells me it cannot install because Acronis has some type of 'snapman' module that Acronis embeds your machine with. The details from ShadowProtect to remove snapman are complex to say the least.

After using this software for years and spending lots of money on it.

I am finally forced to do exactly the thing I bought the software for in the first place.

Start from scratch and re-install Windows and my gazzlion software packages.

Your case is very unusual. You definitely have a problem with the installation of the software and/or conflict with previous versions.
To remove snapman.sys have a look at:

There is one additional item that was not mentioned. The actual steps outlined, may be unique, though the results are similar. Following the release of 2015, it was discovered that the fundamental architecture of the product was radically changed. Changed and not fully tested prior to deployment. As a result, the symptoms that are being described do in fact, have similar results on a multitude of systems. For example, my issue was in attempting to backup a drive, bitlocker secured, to two locations: an online HDD and a off-line HDD. The end results was that the drive was never backed up.

9 days ago, my OS drive (not encrypted) was to be restored, with a new creation of the restore disk, and the result was a corrupt OS. I spent 7 days attempting to make it work. Eventually, a complete rebuild was required.

So, I am very interested in the outcome of your issue. Is it in fact, an issue with past versions being 'held-over' or something deeper. Please let me know how it comes out. (PS: I still don't have a clean backup of my key data HDD, and the issue was reported with case #02274358 in Oct, 2014.)

My issue with True Image 2015 is that when I double click the icon on the desktop, my security software asks if I want the program to modify the computer, to which I say yes. The I get the rotating circle telling me something is being processed and then nothing. I have no way to establish the backup paths to any of my hard drives, set parameters - nothing. Something is obviously wrong with the software parameters.

Where does the System Generator Report get stored on the computer. The status bar blinks then goes blank!

I have several questions/concerns. Will you ever make ADM recognize the 2015 version and what happened to the consolidate option. Also why does the program "hang" when the backup starts or is finishing up? Sometimes when it starts it just sits there and also at the end. When you do a restore of your C drive, it wipes the windows updates history, why is this? I liked your older versions better. When you do a restore, should you do a diskpart and clean the drive? When you do a restore also and open the 2015 software, it says your last backup failed, but the restore still works. I hope Acronis gets there act together because this new user interface really does not work well. It hangs when you just click the mouse in it, even if it is the only thing running.
I just noticed that it says I am a beginner, far from it.
