Acronis Backup and Security 2010 - True Image Home Doesn't Work!

Thread needs solution

All right, last year had some major problems, but eventually settled them. TrueImage 2010 with Plus Pack and Disk Director Suite 10 worked fine for some months on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
Yesterday, Acronis shot me an email with an offer I couldn't refuse - upgrade to Aconis Backup and Security 2010. After inquiring using Chat, I was told that the True Image Home contained in the upgrade had all of the functions of a True Image Home 2010 and that the recovery disk function would work using a USB wireless keyboard (this was big headache for me last year. Had to buy a wired mouse to use the recovery.) So, I purchased the Backup/Security 2010.
I removed True Image Home 2010 and installed the upgrade. Security part worked fine but True Image Home wouldn't open. So, after removing Disk Director, cleaning Acronis from registry best I could (no cleaner utility to work with Windows 7) and installing and uninstalling with True Image installed and with no Acronis programs on the machine five different times, the True Image Home inside the Acronis Backup and Security 2010 program will not open at all.
So, for now I am back to only True Image Home 2010 on my machine and awaiting a response to my email to tech support. Like so many issues before, I dread the long and drawn out process of downloadng report utilities, taking snap shots, and removing and loading and sending emails and waitinf for responses from tech support. When am I going to learn not to buy a new product right away!

I'm running a trial version of the Security suite on my laptop. This has a very early version of TI2010 installed.

I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile, downloading all 283MB of the trial version and install that alongside your current standalone version of 2010 and see if it works.

What is the build number of the standalone 2010 and if you noticed it the build number of the combined version of 2010+ Security?

I've just noticed there appears to be no build number available via the GUI in the standalone security suite.

Oh well I found the About.exe - I'm using build 13.0.17.343.

Even more interesting, I found the GUI version number via the Registration tab (who'd have thought about looking there?) and that says it's version 13.0.18!

Hello Bodgy: I've tried every combination of installing the Acronis Backup and Security application. When I reinstalled True Image Home 2010, latest version, and then installed the Backup andSecurity overtop of the True Image Home 2010, the installation process showed a message to the effect that it found an earlier version of True Image on the machine. It made it continue the installation and it turned out that there were two different installations on my machine. I would think that he later one embedded in the Backup and Security would have updated the True Image 2010, but it didn't and neither woud work.
I once again removed every Acronis application, but am stuck with a few unwanted Acronis dlls: tishell64.dll and timounter64.dll. I disabled them in services, I think. They won't delete. So I appeal to readers of this to help me clean out these two files while I think about what I'm goin to do after they're gone from my machine.
Acronis, as far as I now, does not have a cleaner utility for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, which is disparraging.

All right, I'm back here to update after a bit of time has passed.
The Tech on Acronis Chat informed me that Acronis has updated its Cleanup Utility. Here is where you can get it: http://kb.acronis.com/content/7533

I installed it and it is complete and works really good on Windows 7 Ulimate 64 bit.
This restores my faith in Acronis. Seems they are trying and results are there. I hope this helps others.

Boot into Windows safe mode, then you'll be able to remove the dll's.

If it still won't allow you to then you'll need to use some command line instructions using the Windows Service Control utility.

Instructions will follow if necessary.
