Acronis Email Notifcation can't get working on BT!
Hi there,
Thought I'd ask for help in as many places as possible for this problem. Its annoyed me many times!
Basically I've installed Acronis True Image Home (awesome awesome backup software) on a few people's computers and I set it up so I get emails when backups fail. Really good feature. With Virgin for instance, all I have to do is enter smtp.virgin.net. Which is brilliant, and the test message works and I get an email if they've unplugged their external or etc. With a few other ISPs I just have to get their email address login and password, and it usually works straight away.
I've just given up with BT. I find their username and password for the email account the PC owner has been given by BT, even going so far as to set it up in Outlook sometimes (if they don't use this account) just to verify I have the right settings by sending and recieving mail.
But no, not got it to work at all. I've entered the same login details for SMTP that allow outlook to send and recieve but no luck with Acronis, sending a test message just gives me an error message. Both new and old versions of this I have tried (one from 2 years ago, one downloaded new off the website about 2 weeks ago).
Is there some extra setting I'm missing? A different port number I can use or even a different SMTP server through BT they don't block on port 25?
Much thanks for reading,
Dan Gent

Hi Ilya,
Sorry for the late reply, the irony being that I did not recieve an email notification from these forums that someone has replied! I disable and reenabled the options on these forum settings about being notified about an update to my post....so hopefully I will get a confirmation next time.
The links to the BT website are very useful, they present many more links than the pages I have found. I will go through one of them at a BT customers house and post back with what I find. I hope I get this working. Acronis is really amazing software and I do want to be notified when someone unplugs their external HDD or etc!
Thanks for the help so far,
Dan Gent
