Acronis has stopped working

Thread needs solution

I have a new Dell laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. I just downloaded and installed True Image Home 10. When I try to run it, the main screen comes up but then I get a pop-up that says "Acronis True Image has stopped working". So I never get to configure it or do anything else since I can't get past this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rick,
Be careful of your terminology. If you just downloaded TrueImage Home, then the version is 2010 and the build is 7046. You can confirm this by holding down on the alt key and looking at the help/about option. If you refer the version as 10, people believe you are referring to version 10 of several years ago and will provide wrong information.

I would temporarily turn off any antivirus or malware programs and then restart the install program and choose the repair option.

If that does not correct, then I would fill out a support ticket from the main support website. Check the upper right corner of this window in the blue section, you will find a link to support.

Yes it is 7046. It is not the anti virus sw since I completely removed McAfee prior to doing any software installs. Norton360 will be installed instead. I tried the repair option but the result is the same. This is very frustrating.......

Ok. It's working now. The problem was that the snapapi.dll file was not copied to the c:\windows\system32 folder. I found it in the c:\program files\common files\acronis\snapapi folder and copied it to the system32 folder.

After apparently voluntering to be a BETA site for 2010, I foolishly upgraded to 2011 (because some jerk in Tech Support) told me it would fix all the know bugs. Well it did not. Now, anytime I click on anything from Acronis, nothing happens for 30 seconds or so, then a window pops up telling me that Acronis has stopped working. I used to really like Acronis. Now, I hate Acronis. I have upgraded two times from 2009 to 2010 to 2011 only to see the Acronis software get worse and worse and worse to where it won't even run now. I've been a programmer for 40+ years. I am currently working on embedded systems in an IKON (CANBUS) environment. Someone from Acronis sent me an email the other day, regarding a problem with version 2010 and told me that it would be impossible to back up 1Tb onto a 45gb drive. I'm not sure what they are smoking at Acronis, but now with this latest problem, I'm sure they will tell me that horses cant fly submarines and that I should stop trying. I've had it with Acronis. There is no support, and the support you get is so far away from any problem you may have reported, I'm certain it's just a ploy to frustrate the use so much they just go away. So far, my experience with Acronis Support, represents some of the worst I've ever encountered in the computer industry.
