acronis loader appears prior to windows and just sits there -

Thread needs solution

after updating to the newest version of acronis 2013 and making a new rescue disk and a newly updated loader (press f11 on bootup to get to the acronis rescue) the loader comes up on the black screen and shows "acronis loader..." and nothing more happens, the computer is locked up.

I used my new rescue disk to get me to a screen to disable the loader so now the computer boots up ok, but I have lost the ability to press f11 if I am in trouble.

I have tried reinstalling just he loader from within the rescue disk but nothing changes.

Any Ideas???

I'll let someone else address your specific issue. I'll just give you something to consider:

I do not see the value of the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. The bootable Rescue Media is available when needed, so I don't see any reason to allow the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager to modify the PC's boot. Acronis Startup Recovery Manager adds complexity and risk without any real value over using the bootable Rescue Media. If activated, it modifies your system drive Master Boot Record (MBR), which can cause problems with multi-boot managers and other low-level disk utilities. I prefer just to use the bootable Rescue Media when needed, either from CD or USB flash drive.

James,

There have been additional reports about issues with the Acronis loader in build 6514 having some problems with certain systems.

As Tuttle suggests, the ASRM (F11) is convenient, but not absolutely necessary for restores or recovery.

I like to create a USB based Rescue Media (on a 1 or 2 GB Flash drive) and keep it with my laptop in case it is needed.

The Rescue Media can perform exactly the same functions as the ASRM.
