Acronis nonstop backup service - Change to Manual/disable

Thread needs solution

I was using nonstop backup. I thought it was pretty cool. Then found out it doesn't work with Universal Restore. Also, it tended to increase the heat/noise on my laptop, since it increased CPU utilization.

So I decided to go back to scheduled backups.

I removed nonstop protection and storage. I turned off nonstop backup in the Acronis application.

I noticed that there is still a Acronis Nonstop Backup service that is set for Automatic in my Services settings. I also see that afcdpsrv.exe is in my task list. Taking up 3.4mb of ram.

Can I stop the Nonstop Backup Service and change it to manual or disable it?

Should it still be running even with Nonstop Backup turned off anyway?

I have the same question. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

I used the nonstop backup for a couple of months and while it worked pretty well have decided to return to a more conventional backup regime. Can I safely disable the no-longer required nonstop backup service?

Hello mogulman and Ronal,

Let me shed some light on your concern.

It is safe to disable Acronis Nonstop Backup Service in Windows services applet if you're not going to use Nonstop Backup. It won't anyhow affect any other functions of Acronis True Image Home 2010.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

Can you stop and start NSB from a command line. Not the actual service, it stays running even when you stop NSB from the tray icon or the TIH interface. Basically I'm looking for command line functionality of the NSB section of the UI that toggles NSB on and off.

Yes you can.  In Win 7 go to Administrative Tools from the start menu, With the right mouse clic Services and run as administrator.  Select the NSB service in the newly opened window, and stop it.  Then right click on the service and select properties.  Then disable it.  Acronis will run ok and the NSB service will no longer eat up cpu cycles even after many reboots.

Good luck

How do I turn off autobackup under Windows 10 for Acronis 2016.  I do my periodic backups to an external 4TB hard drive that is stored off-site.  Whenever I put a small flash drive in my PC for file transfers, etc, Acronis writes a backup file on it.  How to fix once?v
