Acronis to the rescue!

Thread needs solution

Amid all the problems & unhappiness here, I had to post that ATIH2010 saved my behind yesterday on one of my PCs.

I'd developed a problem with WHS2011 connector software on a W7HP PC, and for some unknown reason W7's System Restore was not working (I tried a couple of restore points and at the end of the process W7 reported they were corrupt) so I was forced to attempt a full C: drive recovery from my most recent ATIH backup. In this case as always I used the recovery.iso outside of the Windows environment to attempt the restore.

I selected "Verify first" and walked away (nervous about this to say the least) but when I returned 20min or so later the "Recovery was successful" msg was on the screen and indeed it worked perfectly.

I've gotten pretty religious about making .tib backups but haven't actually had to recover one in a very long time, so it was nice to find that ATIH worked! Yes, in this case, I was (very) easily pleased... ;-)

Hi tom,
I believe there are more successes than failures--it is just that the failures get reported and not the successes.

I regularly use TI to do restore to get my system back to normal after testing so I am not surprised by your good fortune.

I am glad you posted your success!

I actually *don't* restore anything regularly and in fact only seem to have serious problems every couple of years. So it's nice to know that what I'm doing (backing-up all my PCs on a regular basis) will actually rescue me when I get in a serious bind. Bad enough that Murphy's Laws exist--don't want to get burned when IT ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY HAS TO WORK!

:-)

I maintain different backups and on different hard drives--as a prevention just in case something does go wrong.
