Acronis Startup Recovery Manager - F11 dissappear after recovery?

Thread needs solution

I have a question on the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. After I activated it and backup my partition to the Acronis Secure Zone, I can see the F11 prompt when booting. However after I recovered my partition and rebooting my PC, I noticed the F11 is no longer showing and the Startup Recovery Manager seems to be "deactivated" and needs to be activated again.

My question is how can I "permanently" activate the Startup Recovery Manager and forever able to see the F11 prompt even after a recovery?

If your image was made before you activated the ASRM, then the MBR (where the ASRM code lives) won't have been updated.

I'm pretty sure though that as you made the image after you had activated the ASRM, it should still be active. It won't be active if you've run Try and Decide at the time.

Thanks Colin, I will give this a try tonight and report back if there are any issues. Thanks again!

F11 is in use on my computer by another application (IBM). My Startup Recovery Manager deactivates shortly after being activated each time I try to activate it. Is there any way I can change it's key from F11 to another key so it will stay activated on my computer or do I have to chose between Acronis True Image Home an the other application? The IBM application that is now using F11 at startup is hidden on my computer cannot be removed. Any other solution?
Thanks,
William

William,

Click on my signature index below and look at item 41-I to use other keys.

Sorry I have see now this post. I have the same problem but I have made the image of WinXP after the activation but when I have restored the backup, only a few minutes later, the F11 function disappear.

Any idea? Tnx ;)

Mike,

Are you referring to the F11 feature which is a part of your computer brand;
or are you referring to the F11 which starts TrueImage Home?

Because of restoring your backup, If you had TureImage Startup Recovery activated before the restore, have you checked to see if it needs to be re-activated again from within TrueImage?

I'm referring to the F11 which starts TrueImage Home.

As I have tried to explain the Secure Zone with F11 function is activated then I have made the image of the partition C: where is installed WinXP Pro, I have one OS only, when I restore the image as soon as made the F11 function disappear and it must be re-activated again from with the rescue disk of TrueImage. I have not installed under WinXP TrueImage.

;)

As stated in your other thread, Acronis is aware of the problem.

When you restored the image was it a normal restore of just the Windows partition (no resize, no moving, etc.)?

Sorry I have not see the reply in other post.

For give you the answer yes is only a restore.

The situation is really simple but owing to my English probably it is not clear.

I don't need to have all function provided with your soft, I need to backup the partition with installed WinXP and restore it is necessary. For this reason I have not installed it under XP. I prefer to use Dthe recovery Disk or, better, F11 function.
I have 2 HD. One with 2 partitions WinXP and Dati and one with the secure zone of Acronis for the software only not for the backup.
In the second HD one partition for the Acronis Backup and one partition Dati.
The sequence is:
Activation of F11 --> Ok working
Backup of OS in the second HD --> F11 Ok working
Restore of OS --> F11 Disappear

That's all folks

;-)

I have installed TI Home 2011 on 64-bit Windows 7, and activated Acronis Startup Recovery Manager (ASRM). I can get into ASRM using F11. But, when I click on "proceed" for back up, it just crashes and the system reboots. Then, the same thing goes on and on. I have clean-uninstalled it using the cleanup utility and re-installed it, but it never works. What do I need to do? Thanks.

Are you using the latest build of TI 2011?

Does the same error happen if you boot to the TI CD and try to create the backup? If it happens with the TI CD created using TI, download the ISO version from your account and try that.
