Acronis TI Home 2010 - MFT corrupted

Thread needs solution

I am running Windows XP SP3 on a Dell Dimension with two hard drives. The first disk is partitioned C, D & for a total of 160gb. The second disk is partitioned F,G & H for a total of 250 gb. Operating system & most software is on drive "C". I backup "C" weekly and the other partitions and drive periodically.
Yesterday I attempted to make a backup of C,D &E. I received error message: Operation with'4-0' was terminated. Details: 'MFT bitmap is corrupted (0x70018), tag 0x89d94B01B483E19E. I have read on this forum identical error and of several approaches that worked for the user. However, here is my situation which I have not found:
1) I can create an error free backup of "C" partition only.
2) I can create an error free backup of partitions D & E together.
3) I can create an error free backup of partitions F,G, & H together.

Failure continues to occur when I attempt a backup of partitions C,D, & E together.

I will be most appreciative of any suggestive corrective actions.

(I am using TI Home 2010, build 7046 and have never experienced any problem.

MANY thanks.

Run chkdsk /r on each partition of your disks. This will take some time...

It is much better to backup all the partitions of the same disk together, but you can work you way around it if your are careful.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have attempted to run check disk on the "C" partition (operating system) and received the "in use" notice. I elected "yes" to schedule it and received confirmation that it was scheduled. However, when I reboot, check disk does not execute. Have you any thoughts on this?

Meanwhile, I will attempt to run check disk on the other partitions.

Again, I appreciate your assistance.

I was unable to ascertain or remedy the problem with corrupted MFT, so I restored system from a 2 week old TI image backup.

All went smoothly and the problem no longer manifests itself.

Many thanks for the troubleshooting tip.
