Acronis True Image 10, 2010, etc. why use Plus Pack??
Okay I have purchased a few home versions of Acronis and made the Boot CD's. Worked decently. I DO NOT have TI 2010.
I do not have Raid/dynamic disks (just a HD with 4 partitions) and restored successfully (TI 9 and 10) .
Why would I need the Plus Pack even for different or changed hardware?
If I swapped out my motherboard, hard disk or changed to an entirely new system why couldn't I just restore to the new hardware??
I know the drivers would be different on a new motherboard, and the hard drive might be a different size and so on.
I could add the drivers myself since they come either on CD with a homebuilt system or you can download them from a PC makers website.
So whats the big deal about needing the plus pack for home users who do not use Raid/Dynamic Disks??
Thanks
Peter

Usually non raid and so on systems can boot without the exact drivers. Just certain things may not work at first-Audio, proper video card driver (else will revert to plain driver or you can boot into safe mode and add driver), and so on....

You can restore when updating your mother board as long as you have the chip set drivers for the new board. I did that and was able to boot the new MB and then add video, lan drivers afterwards.
