Acronis True Image 2014 does not wake machine from sleep to perform backup

Thread needs solution

I though this was supposed to be corrected in the latest version, according to the release log.

My machine is scheduled to make a backup at midnight daily. The Acronis scheduler is not waking up the machine from sleep to perform the task.

I see posts dating back to 2010 with this same problem.

Do I really need to schedule a task with Windows Task Scheduler to get this to work? What gives???

What OS are you using?

What sleep settings have you set in Windows and is there any sleep settings in the BIOS/UEFI?

I would suggest running from an elevated command prompt powercfg -energy see if that lists any process that are causing problems with the sleep mechanism. It will take about 60 seconds and the report is an html page.

Colin,

Not quite sure how to interpret the results:

Very quickly, as this report shows, there are a number of USB devices that are misbehaving as far as power down is concerned. This doesn't mean that TI isn't the culprit in preventing them from working, but it also doesn't mean it is either.

Vendor 1002 is Gigabyte, I suspect that something that is plugged into the USB hubs (PID 4396/7) might be causing a problem. Try temporarily disconnecting the UPS from the port, also more likely disable the audio driver, reboot, and see if the power down problem still exists.

Check if there is a more up to date driver on the Gigabyte website for the audio component.

To find out more information, find the VID number here http://www.pcidatabase.com/ and from there click on the vendor and hunt down the PID number as listed in your report. This will direct you to the actual driver or subsystem, from that an internet search might bring up further information as to whether other people are finding sleep problems with that device/driver.

Do confirm that this advance setting (wake the compute ) is turned on.

I have a similar problem, with a computer that doesn't wake up from sleep to perform backups.

In my case the dialog box doesn't seem to include the "Wake up the sleeping/hibernating computer" option.
Sleep seems to work properly and the computer wakes up when I move the mouse or press a shift key.

Edited to add
Ah, I found the setting deep in Windows power settings that allows scheduled events to wake the computer from sleep. Now I have to wait a week to see if that works better!

Stuart,
I seem to remember from another posting that certain "Power configurations" settings can prevent that option from appearing within the TrueImage settings as your attachment indicates. Let us know your results.
