Acronis True Image 2014 Freezes deleting backups

I had an issue with this before and reinstalled the program. Worked for awhile but now it's doing it again. I also wanted to delete old backups with the newer one but that doesn't work either. It keeps adding backups and filling up my portable HD. Is there another way to delete backups other than using TI 2014 because I'm getting nowhere. I'm using build 6673 on a Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit edition.

I have had this exact problem for a long time and would love to know the solution. I always end up having to manually terminate the program and deleting the backups via File Explorer.
