Acronis True Image 2015 HD

Thread needs solution

I am planning on purchasing a standalone Kingston V300 SSD Drive from Dell. It does not come with the Acronis True Image HD software. So I am wondering if I can just use my copy of Acronis True Image Premium instead to clone my HDD to the new SSD?

Use your copy of Acronis to create Rescue Media, and then boot with that to perform the cloning process.

Please search the forum for "Clone" to find the many posts outlining our recommended procedure. For example, we recommend that you clone only after booting from the ATI bootable Rescue Media, not from Windows. Also, it would be equally effective but safer to perform a full disk mode backup and restore it to the new drive, rather than to clone.

Hi there,

I tried as you suggested by performing a Full Disk mode backup using the ATI Bootable rescue media and then restored it from my External Backup drive. However, after I rebooted Windows 8.1 came up with a message Preparing Windows and just stayed in that state with a rolling ball. It never finished booting. So, I am not quite sure what I can do now to get the OS transferred and working on the SSD. Any suggestions?

Restore Win 8.1 to SSD failed

I tried as suggested for OS migration by performing a Full Disk mode backup to my External Backup drive using the ATI Bootable rescue media, and then restored it to my SSD Drive. However, after I rebooted Windows 8.1 with the new Kingston SSDNow drive in place, Windows came up with a message that said "Preparing Windows" and just stayed in that state with a rolling ball for the longest time. It never finished booting. So, I am not quite sure what I can do now to get the OS transferred and working on the SSD. Any suggestions?
