Acronis True Image Crashes when I try to change settings

Thread needs solution

Hi

I have several already setup backup sets that I archive to an external drive. The problem seems to be that the external drive letter has changed. The program is looking on the L drive, but I do not have an L drive any more, L is a CD Drive. So, I need to change the existing backups to be to the M drive. But, as soon as I click the Edit Backup Settings button, the program crashes. It is ridiculous in this day and age for a program to crash with such consistency. I am on Windows 7 64 Bit.

thanks

Save yourself a lot of time and headaches. Create a new task and point the new task to the new empty storage folder or sub-folder.

Editing an existing task can cause lots of issues so the best workaround is just not make any changes in an existing task.

If you want your backup to be capable of creating a replacement disk (should you have a need), the best type backup to have is one created in disk mode so all partitions( including those without drive letters--if they exist) of the source disk are included inside the backup.

The backups you have are usable and can be retained. Just start over with a new full backup pointing to a new empty folder or sub-folder.

You may try to check if the process with reporting-with-dumps-via-forum as described here http://forum.acronis.com/node/30313 works.

In a next version, it would be nice to have an option to create a duplicate of an existing job (without activating it though). I had this need for another reason.

Hello Maitre Bart,

actually already in the current version you can clone (duplicate) an existing backup plan.

Thank you.
