Acronis True Image Home 2010 and 2011 Compatibility with TrueCrypt 7.1

Thread needs solution

I have a laptop with a TrueCrypt 7.1 encrypted, standard container file (30GB in size) that is stored in my Windows 7 "My Documents" folder. Let's say I image my whole disk (the only disk on my laptop) WITHOUT the TrueCrypt standard container file mounted as a volume, using ATIH 2010 or 2011 (latest builds).

If I restore the ATIH 2010/2011 disk image to my original laptop HDD (say, because of some disaster), will my restored HDD now contain a faithful copy of the TrueCrypt standard container that can be mounted as usual with the correct password and with access to all the files inside the container?

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

The restored container file would be usable normally. It's no different than any other file as far as TI is concerned.

Thank you very much MudCrab--much appreciated. I performed a full disk image using ATIH 2011 Build 6942, verified the image, and then mounted it. I then launched TrueCrypt and to my pleasant surprise was able to mount the TrueCrypt container (located within my mounted ATIH disk image) to a new drive letter on my laptop using the original decryption key!! All the contents of the imaged TrueCrypt container were present.

If the Truecrypt file container is mounted, can I still image the drive that contains the file container as long as I do not include the logical drive represented by the mounted file container?

Yes, that should work. I believe it should work as well when the container is mounted. For ATi, the container is just another file that is locked when mounted. If the backup completes when it is mounted, you are good. The data at the time the backup started is the data that is backed up. You can continue to use the container during the backup, but the changes are not backed up.
