Acronis True Image Home 2010 and Acronis True Image Home 2011 Try&Decide Woes
Well, I'm at my wits end. I've been using Acronis True Image Home 2010 (with the Plus Pak) for quite awhile now and suddenly when I try to use Try&Decide, I get the following:
- Failed to Start Try&Decide Event code: 0x00970007+0x00970016+0x00970002
Okay, so I've been procrastinating at upgrading to Acronis True Image Home 2011, so I uninstalled 2010 and installed the trial version to see if Try&Decide works in that version. So, I attempted to Start Try&Decide and received the following:
Error Dialogue Box:
"Cannot start Try&Decide because system partition is dynamic"
Hm... When I first upgraded to 2010, everything worked fine on my Windows 7-64 bit system; however, over the past little while "something" has changed (I did change 2010 versions to 7154 from 7046, but the problem is identical) and now Try&Decide has decided not to try anything (pun intended."
I've taken the Acronis system reports for both the 2010 and 2011 installs, and the disk_report.txt file is reproduced (in part) as follows:
PS Speed IFace Hs-Bs-Tg Model

Anyone else have a similar problem and better yet a solution?
Without Try&Decide I've lost the ability to safely test things on my system.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your feedback, Fred. I actually did most of the things you advised except for the fallback to an earlier version of the OS before TI was installed. Every summer, I generally "reformat and reinstall" so perhaps I'll build my system up again - something caused T&D to suddenly stop working, I'm not the only one experiencing the problem and the newest version of the s/w doesn't seem to fix the problem, so I guess I'm at a standstill for purchasing any further software from Acronis.
Any particular reason for sticking with 2010-7046?

David,
Hello.... Yes 2010 v-7046 works. My personal philosophy as far as PC's goes.."If it works ...don't fix it" My OS has no patches or updates (from MS) and use my own security scheme.. Norton 2011 and Malwarebytes PRO .. Once TI was working (and my OS) ..I don't mess with it .. Unless you have some need that an "update" does.... whats the point? Regards Fred

Update!
I just reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit and then Acronis True Image 10. Works like a charm now, so I can only guess that some other install caused the product not to correctly function.
I'm going to reinstall all of my other software, so we'll see!

David ,
Hello... Thanks for the update, as this is a way to be of help to all that suffer with "TI" problems. Just make sure that you do a complete OS backup before you try anything! Save it somewhere safe as it's GOLD! Regards Fred

Well, some things just don't change, but I'll be darned if I know why!
Everything worked after the reinstall and I backup up my system and then did some more installs and another backup.
After restoring my system (I like to check backups), T&D did not work _yet_again... on _either_ of the backups.
Oh well, still great backup software.
