Acronis True Image Info

Thread needs solution

Hello, I would just like to ask if the Acronis True Image 2013 can also have the ability to backup and restore to different hardware/virtual machines?

Thank You

With the PlusPack you can restore to a different machine that requires additional or new drivers.

As for virtual machines this depends a little on what type of VM you are referring to. If you mean a VM cluster then no, you need Acronis vmProtect for that, if you have a VHD file which is a converted tib file, then yes, but note it will blue screen if the drive environment is different.

what are your views on the cloud storage? do you think it's necessary to add a cloud storage?

If you restore a virtual image to a physical machine or to a different virtual/physical machine. If you use the Plus Pack where drivers can be injected the BSOD on booting is less likely. I have done both and sometimes it has worked other times it hasn't

I am still in two minds about cloud computing, storing images and files for either other people to access or files that you might need to access wherever you are, cloud computing is ideal.

As a substitute for additional hardware I'm not so sure, that might change if ultra fast broadband becomes the norm, then having an offsite image of a system would be advantageous subject to ownership and security issues.
