Advice for setting up a new computer
Hi all,
I'm using True Image Home and True Image Online.
I'm planning on formatting my existing system and doing a fresh install.
I'm looking for some advice as to how to incorporate True Image into that process and how to create a good recovery strategy.
Grover's Index has got so much stuff listed, but nothing seemed to deal specifically with a fresh system install - at least I couldn't find a title mentioning it. I haven't followed every link, as that would take quite a long time. Hopefully somebody could assist by pointing me in the right direction.
I use the machine as a Digital Audio Workstation for producing music. That's it's primary function, but it also gets used for personal productivity, browsing, etc. It has two 500GB hard disk drives.
C: = system drive (OS + apps)
D: = storage drive (sample libraries, etc.)
So far I'm thinking:
1. Install the operating system
>> Create image (Full)
2. Install device drivers for the particular hardware
>> Create image (Full, Incremental, or differential ? Not sure?)
3. Install application software
>> Create image (Full, Incremental, or differential ? Not sure?)
Create some sort of schedule which will keep me safe should disaster strike.
Ideally I'm looked for a balanced solution - not looking for a mission critical solution, e.g. full image every hour pushed to NAS (RAID 1+0) and cloud with 256-bit encryption. Nothing too over the top - I'm not running an enterprise.
Also, it'd be nice to just use True Image as is - I don't want to do any crazy scripting or download helper apps. Just a simple, uncomplicated, and elegant solution to keep me protected. Please remember that I'm running both True Image Home and True Image Online, so I want to make optimal use of both to create a powerful, robust, and synergistic strategy.
Thanks,
Carl
