Anybody install WIN 10 Tech Preview on a computer using 2013 ATIH?

Thread needs solution

I have been trying to install the WIN10 Preview on a WIN 8.1 machine with ATIH 2013 backup, and have been working with MS Tech Support on a problem. Different methods of installation all fail with the following cryptic error message:

"Windows 10 Technical Preview couldn't be installed.

We're not sure what happened, but we weren't able to install the Preview."

There have been several suggestions, including conflict with other programs such as backup software. I am NOT looking for tech support on the installation, but would like to know if anyone has done a successful in place installation with ATIH installed. (It is an unused computer, so I can be reckless.) That would help to eliminate the source.

Greetings,
Even the latest versions of 2013 have issues with some hardware configurations and systems running Win 8.1. Based on your post, can I suggest that you back up your 8.1 machine, validate, and test your bootable media.

Now uninstall Acronis and attempt to move forward with your Windows 10 preview install. No version of Acronis is currently compatible with windows 10. Windows 10 preview does modify the recover partition on windows 8/8.1 so keep in mind you cannot go back without a usb recovery stick, and using Diskpart to completely reformat your drive. This is where a back up and bootable media might help. There may be hoops with secure boot to jump through depending on the version you used. Later is better in this case. You can probably get the answer to your question in under 10 min :0)
