ATH 2014 Backup Created But Main Screen Shows 'not backed up yet'
I had started a full backup on 2013/12/15 and subsequently made 7 incremental backups. On 2014/04/09, I cloned the Settings, changed the name of the backup setting and also the destination filename. I successfully did a full backup.
Today the main screen shows 'not backed up yet' and there is no 'Recover' button. When I check the log, I see two entries, one relating to changing the backup name, the other reporting that the backup was successful. I tried going to Recover and browsing to the full backup on the harddrive (it looks fine) and adding it to the backup set but nothing happened.
Any ideas? I am running True Image 2014 Premium, build 6673.

I just closed and restarted ATH 2014 - two backup sets that were fine earlier (successfully validated) are now showing 'not backed up yet'. Again, using the Recover button, browsing for the backups and adding them to the backup set does nothing. I haven't checked if the bootable version of ATH 2014 will allow me to restore the disk images - since it doesn't 'remember' what is backed up, I assume it will work fine.

The messsge "not backed up" is an info message telling you that the scheduler has not been used yet to create a scheduled backup.
It is NOT telling you there is no backups. This is simply an info message which can be ignored if you wish to create manual backups.
The program will not function well when user makes configuration changes. Your one and only hope for success is to create a task and then do not make any changes to it--except possibly to stop or change the schedule and that can be done from the main menu.
Click on my signature link 2-A below and review the guide. At the end of that guide, is also a listing of illustrations like the ones below. These can help you to be better understand how to use TrueImage 2014. As you have chosen to use the incremental type backup scheme, I would suggest you consider the next link as an example on how you should can set up your new backup task without need for futher changes.

edit/added:
You have several other postings. These issues were mostly caused by changes to the task. Changes causes problems. There are a variety of postings very similar to your issues. A review of my prior links and a review of others postings will add to your understanding.
Basically, my suggestion as a long time user without your type issues is to create the task and then make no changes. I wish changes could be made and the program continue successfully but my experience and your postings indicate changes do not perform in the manner you expect so I avoid the issses by not making changes. My link 2-A can help to avoid some of the pitfalls a new user of 2014 faces. Good luck.

@GroverH, thanks for your detailed response. I have only seen this problem on one laptop, so I suspect some sort of TrueImage index/catalog/databse corruption. I like to keep things simple - I know TrueImage has impressive functionality in terms of consolidating incrementals but I would rather not take the risk that a glitch results in a backup set that I cannot restore. I try to test the restore process periodically but unfortunately the test often occurs when I have to recover a failed/failing harddrive.
I create an incremental backup task pointing to a new backup file and make manual bi-weekly backups. When I accumulate about 5 incrementals, I clone the task to retain all settings and repeat. On the third iteration, I delete the first backup set.
I never use the scheduler. In addition to showing 'not yet backed up', there is no 'Recover' button and I have not found a way to do a disk restore using the Windows client.
As far as editing the task, all edits are done to the cloned task before the first backup. I follow the recommendation of renaming the backup task in addition to changing the name of the output file. I have been using this process since TrueImage v8.
I found archives..xml in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database - I will check later today what this file contains on the failing laptop. Is there a way to get ATIH to rebuild its database from the backup and ASZ? When I installed ATIH2014, it indexed existing backups although I recall I had issues where it would not allow me to edit settings.

Here is one method of deleting incrmental backup files from within the program.
GH5. How to delete backup files using Acronis Backup 'Explorer'. My preferred method of deletion.
Another method of deleting task settings and the task tib files is to place mouse pointer inside the task, RIGHT CLICK and choose the DELETE option. Be careful, once you click either of the two settings options, the delete occurs without any further confirmations. This method is not my preferred method as it has not prompts or confirmations.
GH19. Remove ALL TASKS from Task Menu Listing
GH20. Remove Single Task from Task Menu Listing
The Archives.xml is the history file. It can be deleted as below or a few have successfully edited, depending on what changes, removals or corrections needed. Usually any edits ends up needing a full delete. Any deletion of this xml file will cause an empty file and new tasks will need to be added.
The preferred method of restoring disks or partitions is when booted from the TI Recovery CD. However, using the methods described in this next link, the backup to be restored within Windows can be added to the task list and the Recovery option will become available. Note in 2014, an additional option exists whereby you can also Right click on a Tib backup file inside Microsoft Windows Explorer, click TrueImage option and choose Recover.

After new task created. The "back up now" option will appear. After first backup created, the Recover option will appear and the "not backed up" info msg will disappears.
I used your procedures and created the same set of circumstances as shown below.
If you perform your deleted from within TrueImage, you should have no difficulties.
Fig 1=
Create base task (non-scheduled; scheme =Inc
Create 1 full + 5 inc.
Clone base task
Fig 2=
Edit clone task to have new name and new destination.
Use clone task to create 1 full plus 3 inc.
fig 3=
Use the Edit/Recover files option to access the Acronis Backup explorer.
Prepare to delete the base task backups.
Fig 4=
Begin the deletion of the base backup files.
Right click on the full backup.
Select delete and confirm the number of files being deleted.
Confirm delete.
Fig 5=
Base tib backup files deleted. Empty task remains for reuse or separate deletion. User choice.
Clone task ready to be recloned.
Correction.
Original figure 5 posting has been modified to the above.

@GroverH, sorry about the delay in responding. I have been fighting with Win8.1 Update1 which has prevented me from getting back to this problem.
I suspect the database got corrupted. I can do an incremental backup, the Restore button shows up but if I close and restart ATIH 2014, the Restore button is gone and ATIH claims nothing has been backed up. I uninstalled ATIH 2014 build 6673 and installed ATIH 2014 build 6614 just in case a problem was introduced with the latest build. I individually browsed for the backups and added them. I tried re-creating the settings from the backup but it appears ATIH is not picking up even the drives in the previously done backups. I created new backups and they seem to be working fine (at the moment).
Thanks for your help
Norbert

Norbert,
As long as you do not make any changes to the task, and if deleting a tib backup from an active task, be sure to use the program to perform the delete. A review of the many links above can be of help but you can also find these links and even more by clicking on the signature link 2-A below and browsing to the end of that link.
