ATI 10 cannot see primary drive

Thread needs solution

I have been using True Image Home 10 successfully for more than two years to perform full hard drive backup on an HP nw8440 notebook computer to a USB drive. I just acquired a new HP 8530p notebook. I started True Image Home 10 from the CD just as I have done on the previous computer. It starts and runs normally with one exception. The only hard drive listed is the USB drive, and it is assigned the "C:" drive. The primary drive in the computer is not listed. In case anyone is wondering, yes, the primary drive is in the computer, and it is bootable, and is loaded with Windows XP.

Any suggestions how I may be able to see the primary drive to perform a backup?

Thank you

Perhaps downloading the latest ISO bootable media file for TI 10 from you account would be useful. This may be a driver issue, and your new hardware may not be included. You could also try safe mode if that is available from the CD. Since you are booting from the CD, the loaded operating system is totally irrelevant - this is a hardware/driver issue, and TI 10 is a few years old.

Here are instructions for downloading the ISO image from your account: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/9260

Gary is correct. Another option is to check your notebook's BIOS for an "IDE Compatibility Mode" setting. If this setting exists, switching to IDE compatibility mode will probably allow your existing TI 10 version to see the internal disk.

Even though TI version 10 is a few years old it still works on every PC I've tried it on.

Thank you for the replies. I may try your suggestions. In the interim, I have found a product that works well with the new computer, HDClone 3.8 from www.miray.de .
