ATI 10 recovery via standalone failed, and now I cannot boot.
I recently upgraded my desktop PC from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium.
Using my Acronis True Image Home 10 standalone backup DVD, I performed a standalone backup of the Windows 7 system disk. I also verified the backup.
I continued installing applications onto Windows 7, got tangled up with one of the applications, and decided to roll back to an earlier version of my system disk.
I booted to the Acronis True Image standalone backup DVD and started restoring. The first two backup DVD's went smoothly, but everything hung at the third DVD. So, cycled the power and tried to reboot to the standalone backup DVD, which failed. I also tried to reboot to the hard drive, which of course failed. When booting, I can enter the BIOS and move around the menu, but get no farther than that in the boot process. I also tried to boot to a Vista recovery DVD, which failed. After the BIOS, all I see is a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner.
How do I recover from this?

If the restore didn't complete you will need to try it again. Hopefully, there isn't anything wrong with the DVD. Do you have another backup available?
Are you using TI 10 or TI 2010?

Yes, the boot order HAD been changed, perhaps because during my recovery attempt (without understanding what I was doing) I checked the checkbox regarding MBR...
So, in the BIOS, I changed the first boot device to DVD, and am in the process of trying again to restore.

My previous backup is of the system disk when it was still running Vista. I'll try that if this attempt at the Win7 backup set fails.

I am using TI 10.
Thanks so much for the lifeline! I am realizing just how much I depend on my PC!

Update: The second attempt to restore the Win7 backup also failed, with the message,
"E00070020: The archive is corrupted"

Hello Stephanie and MudCrab!
Thank you for your comments, and many thanks to MudCrab for assistance.
Stephanie, thank you for the information provided.
First of all please note that Acronis True Image Home 10 is an outdated version: it's not supported, updated and developed anymore, this we cannot guarantee that safety of your Windows 7 system. Acronis True Image Home 10 isn't supposed to work with it, and officially doesn't support this OS.
However another restore attempt may save the situation. I would advise you to store all the backup parts from the DVD to one folder on any suitable location: external or internal HDD, FTP folder, etc. This may help to solve the problem.
I would also suggest you to use Acronis True Image Home 2011 further on when dealing with Windows 7 (I can see from your account that you have a license with free 30 days support included).
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!
