ATI 11: Old clone backups not being deleted 2nd HD nearly full

Thread needs solution

I'm using ATI 2011 to backup an exact clone / image of my first HD which all in all is about 180 GB of data.

Hard drive 2 has a 1 TB capacity. I have these backups running 3x per week.

Originally, I left your software to "automatically" manage the deletion of old backups. However, your software did not seem to do this so well. I have used 932 GB with about 10 GB free due to the normal amount taken up for formatting on a 1 TB hard drive.

I have not moved off that 932 GB for some time. Per advice given in this Forum and in the knowledge base -- someone suggested that the automatic deletion of old backups had issues and to set the BACKUP SCHEME to delete after X number of backups.

So we set it to 3. However, judging from the time stamp on the folders on Hard Drive 2 -- no backups have been completed since 12/3. The backup schemes were changed on 11/17.

**Sort of disappointed about ATI because I paid $75 for the Plus version and there is only 30 days of complimentary phone support. For $99, Novastor will include a year of phone support. Drobo offers phone support for $69 / year once someone buys one of their external enclosures. **

I assume you are doing a full disk backup rather than Files. Your best bet to try to get this working would be to delete the existing task and backups (move them to another place if you want to keep them) and create a new task. The ATI2011 internal database gets lost sometimes

If you want Acronis support, then contact them before your time is up. This forum is basically just users and won't count as you're having contacted Acronsi before the time limit is up.

Linda, I would concur with what Scott has suggested. If you edited an existing task, this would probably account for its failure. The program does not seem to know how to implement changes to an existing task.

Start with a new task and know what settings you want to use so later edits are NOT necessary. Point your new backups to a new folder so the new tasks are not intermingled with the old backups.

Here are some suggested examples depending upon whether your backup scheme uses full; or full with x differentials; or full with x incrementals.

Full backups only. Change the 4 to your own needs.

Full plus x number of differentials. Change the 6 and 4 to fit your needs

Full plus x number of incrementals  (avoid large number of incrementals)
