ATI 2012 Restore D: drive operation hangs upon reboot

I am trying to restore an image of my D:drive (not the boot drive, which is C:)

When the computer reboots, I just get a blue screen with the letters "EN" in the bottom right corner of the screen.  Both the mouse and keyboard are non-responsive.

The whole point of this software is to allow me to restore my backed up files if I need to.  If it fails to do this critical function, what did I pay for?

David, welcome to these User Forums.

What version of Windows OS are you running?  i.e. XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 or 10?

How are you trying to do the restore of your D: drive backup image?  Are you doing this from within Windows or are you using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media.  Note: the latter is recommended.

David, thank for the further information.

If Acronis requires a reboot in order to restore your D: drive then it means that there are files in use on that drive.

I would recommend creating the Acronis Rescue Media on either CD/DVD or USB stick and trying to boot from that to see if you get to the offline Acronis application panels.

If you don't, then you may need to check your BIOS, which if this is UEFI, you may need to disable Secure Boot to allow the default Acronis Rescue Media to boot correctly - this uses a Linux kernel which Secure Boot can block from booting.  This is the same as when Acronis tries to boot from within Windows, but a whole lot safer as there is no need for Acronis to try to modify your Windows boot configuration files in order to create a temporary Linux OS environment to boot into.

Thanks so much, Steve.  I'll look into these items that you have posted about.
