ATI 2014 Installation Fatal Error

Thread needs solution

I used the clean-up utility to remove a bad install of ATI 2014 (which wouldn't uninstall) and some remainder of ATI 2013. Now, I cannot install it back, and of course, the Acronis web site shows that my 1-month limited support window to file a ticket with Acronis support is over.

I tried "run as admin", cleaning up again and rebooting numerous times, but still: same error message.

MESSAGE:
Installation has failed.
Fatal error during installation
Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\7ABFE44842C12B390AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\FD7A83B6146F5D54BBACE376A6CB5F8C. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2908. (repeated N time)

The 16MB error txt log file is attached in the zip file herein.

Thanks to anyone who can help. This is quite frustrating.

Hi Patrick,
I see two problems. Left over Filter Drivers or registry keys pointing to them and a failed upgrade from a trial version of the product. Did you follow ALL steps in the Clean Up Utility instructions and reboot prior to trying to install 2014?

Yes I ran many times the Cleanup Utility. I could not uninstall ATI2014, so that's why I used the utility. You're probably right about the registry keys. The only option I see is to reinstall Windows.
I asked support from Acronis, and they apparently accepted to look into it without charge (as I just purchased it a few months ago). Let's see what they find.
If you have any further good idea, please let me know.
