ATI 2014 - leave out scheduled system shutdown/restart backup once (on reboot)

Thread needs solution

Win7-64

A scheduled system shutdown/restart backup job is created and works fine.
(For me it would be sufficient if the jobs runs only in case of shutdown and not in case of reboot. But this option is not available.)

Sometimes I like to reboot the system without running the backup job. Then I have to ...
edit the job
reboot
re-edit the job

Is there a more simple workaround?

To gain control, you could set up the task to run  manually so the job only runs when you specifically start the backup task. This would eliminate any forced backup as the backup would only run when you tell it go.  The task could be configured to shut down the computer when backup complete.

I know this option but this procedure is not convenient for me.

Normal situation is to have the backup job run when the computer is shutdown (option scheduled system shutdown/restart). In my system the shutdown is sometimes triggered by event (I'm not present). Therefore the described procedure above does not work.

Special situation is when e.g. software is installed and a reboot is needed. Often I forget to edit the backup job (option scheduled system shutdown/restart) and then I have to wait for finishing the backup job.

I would like to have the option shutdown/restart splitted into two options: A=shutdown/restart B=shutdown only.

I have a similar problem in 2016. I would like the backup to run once per day on shutdown and never on reboot. In older versions, shutdown and startup were separate options and this seems to have vanished from 2016. How can I achieve this without manual intervention?

Hello John,

There always has been only 1 option for combined shutdown and reboot trigger. 2016 version is no difference in this matter. You can find old versions documentation (versions 7.0 - 2015) at http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/legacy.html.

Maybe you got confused because in some of previous versions (not all) radio button was labelled "system shutdown" and now it says "system shutdown or restart". That does not change the fact that description, information in the user guide and actual behavior has always been the same: backup task fired both at shutdown and reboot.

Thank you for sharing the idea about scheduler options.
