ATI 2015 <closed>
I am on my 6th upgrade of ATI having been using it for years. Until now I have been satisfied with the software, though I have had some instances when I really needed to depend on a backup image to restore my computer and ATI failed me. However, for the 2015 version it is completely hopeless.
I have made several backups of my 256GB SSD driver to only find that I am unable to recover files or disk images from any of the backups. The software is completely buggy and unreliable. On top of that is the lack of any real support, so how can you depend on such a company and its backup software for such a critical function??
So I am uninstalling it from my 3 computers and using a free backup utility to protect me for now. Acronis, please don't bother to send me an more upgrade notices as they will only go to my spam folder!

I too have made numerous ATI upgrades along the way. For the past two weeks, ATI2015 has been locked in "Calculating time remaining..." I can't get it to stop. Rebooting just causes it to start over again. . I think it's time to find something else.

Just wondered (for curiosity only). Have all these updates of TI been performed on one system over the years or are you starting afresh with TI2015 (clean install of TI on a system that has never had Acronis installed before) ?
(updating a program just for the sake of it seems a recipe for disaster tbh. If your installed version of TI was working... I would always advise to leave it)

The reason for upgrading to ATI 2015 was "supposedly" because Acronis saying to be compatible with Windows 8.1 you had to upgrade you software. I probably should have tested this out by installing the 2014 version before purchasing this useless upgrade.

Thanks William. I was just curious that's all.
I'm using TI2014 on W8.1 and its been trouble free. Incremental backups are made daily and I fairly frequently try or evaluate things that require me to use those backups to undo whatever it is I have been using or installing. Hope you get some answers to the problems you are experiencing.

I am also using TI2014 on Windows 8.1 and have no issues. The crap hit the fan with Windows 8.1 and TI2013 ... Acronis offered some of it's customers a free upgrade to 2014 because 2013 wasn't compatible (despite the fact that Windows 8.1 was released in 2013 lol). It was a slap in the face because many had grudgingly upgraded to 2013 because 2012 was not compatible with Windows 8.
I am still using 2012 on my Windows 7 rig, no intention of upgrading it either. If I knew then what I know now, my Windows 7 rig would still be using 2010.
That being said, I have installed 2015 on 3 client's computers (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1) and have issues on all three. It's certainly been a disappointment, but I don't intend to walk away from arguably the best backup software in the industry just because they dropped the ball this year. If they release another steaming pile of manure in 2016, then we'll see how the chips fall.

Hi guys, I am sorry to hear you had troubles with our software! Daniel Snooks and Mooly, thanks for advocating for Acronis and 2015th version :)
William Rink, Paul Stevens, Saferider, Daniel Snooks thank you for being our loyal customers for a long time! Usually such threads are not productive in resolving tech problems. If you have time to work with my team on getting your issues with Acronis True Image 2015 resolved or worked around, send me a PM, I will organize the rest.

Aliya,
Thank you for your kind offer. After reading the many negative comments about the lack of support and the issues with ATI2015, it is quite refreshing to have you make this offer.
Please let me know what you would like in the way of information. What I can tell you is that after making a backup from my 256G SSD to an external 1TB USB drive, that when I attempt to restore my SSD from the backup I am unable to do so, can't even select the backup image from within ATI. I also have trouble repeating a previous backup using a newly created task.
I will have to reinstall ATI2015 since I removed it the other day from frustration. I can provide some screen captures of what I am experiencing. Let me know if there is a way to obtain diagnostic logs as well.

To follow up on my previous post, I was up until 11 pm last night setting up email notifications on 2 of the troublesome systems. Once I received the email logs which showed the cause of backup failure I was able to resolve both systems and they are now backing up like champs.
In my opinion, this only serves to strengthen the argument that logging is extremely important and needs to be put back in without this ludicrous email requirement.
For the record, I am saying it needs to be put back in NOW ... don't wait until 2016 (my inbox may not be able to handle having email notifications from every client)

Happy Monday guys!
Daniel Snooks, we (Support) work closely with Product Management on understanding the need of this feature in the product based on customers' feedback. You know what could help, please leave your comment about logging in the feedback form in the product (Help->Send feedback): Support, RnD and Product Management review these on regular basis. So far there is a workaround I believe you are aware about: https://kb.acronis.com/content/49484
William Rink, Can you install the product again? We will need it to understand what caused the issues. I will PM you.
@all - I have to remind, guys, per our forum guidelines and rules: one thread is for one issue. Since we all discussing much more than 1 technical problem now, we will close this thread. Hope for your understanding.

Aliya,
Its nice to see members of management visiting the forum where issues are posted. I hope you will visit more often and see first hand some of the issues faced by those users who use thier product plus those users who also volunteer their time.
The need for logging has been well documented during the 2013 and 2014 versions. The 2014 has been the best logging yet for advising customers of what is happening but even 2014 was less than needed for many. In fact, you have had MVP's to join and then quit over the lack of support in this issue by Acronis. Your users have already offered their comments about the needs of logging in past postings. Re-institute the 2014 logging and go back into your files where even 2014 can be improved.
Training video's for 2015 would help. More information about the editing of a backup task would help. Many users do make changes to their tasks and do not understand that it is often the actual changes which cause the task not to work as expected. More information about what can be corrected by edits would help. Your users are hungry for information about the program--both before and after things go wrong.
Thank you.

I have been making backups to an external 4TB USB3 drive and to a 4TB WD MyCloud drive connected by Ethernet to my computer. Windows and TI2015 has no problem accessing these drives. Sunday I did something that destroyed my ability to boot windows so I used the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media (ABRM) to try to recover. However, the ABRM did not recognize either of these two drives but only one other external 1TB drive. I eventually solved my immediate problem by using a different computer to write the C drive backup to the recognized 1TB drive and was able to restore. HOWEVER, I have a lot of backups (multi-TB's of photos and videos) on the external 4TB's that Acronis Bootable Rescue media (ABRM) does not recognize. Does ABRM have a hard drive size limit like in older versions of Windows? What if I need to recover data from these drives? I found no help in the HELP file so I need HELP!
