ATI 9 lost status during first full backup to CD

Thread needs solution

During my first full backup of my C drive I was on disk 5 when message came up that  possible error in copying due to damaged disk.  Drive C is 145 GB with 21 GB used and 124 GB free.

#1  Is it normal for it to take hours to backup?

#2  On disk 5 it was only 22% done.

#3  How do I know where it left off?????  I need to finish backing up the C drive.  Since I don't understand a lot of the language used or the meaning of a lot of things in this program, I am not even sure if I am doing the right thing.  Thanks, Dottie

Hello Dottie,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

First of all I would recommend you to check disks for errors. Please do the following:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

See if the issue perissts and let us know the results.

chkdsk turned out fine.  I guess this program is more for people who understand computer language better than I.  I don't understand why it should take days to make a backup of my C: and E: drive.  I think this is too involved for me.  I wasted $15.00 because it is not easy to use.
