ATI2009 Locks up machine on backup

Updated Acronis True Image Home 2009 to the latest version. Now when I run a backup job in ATI 2009, them machine hard-locks and the only way out is to power-cycle the machine. This did not happen before the update.
From what I have read on the the forums, I think I might need to install the latest SnapAPI drivers? I don't know.
I have updated the SATA drivers to the latest version thinking that was it, but it was not. I have tried completely uninstalling the product , reg cleaning with CCleaner after reboot, and then reinstalling after reboot to no avail. I have stopped and disabled the Distributed Tracking Link service.
Can anyone help?
