ATI2012 will not let me Backup to my NAS using Cross-Over LAN Cable Direct Connection

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

I just bought the Synology DS211j NAS using two 2TB Harddisks from Samsung (Raid 1).

The connection in Windows is all set and copying, deleting and all that works fine with the Windows Explorer. Now I tried to set the shared Folder as the Backup Destination in ATI 2012 but there is always an error message that access is denied. It does not work via a direct connection with LAN-Cable PC <--> DS211j and does not work via the connection PC <--> Router <--> DS211j either. Same error message. DHCP is activated or fixed when trying to connect directly with the LAN Cable.

Could someone please help me with this?
Thanks in advance!

Best,
Philipp

Unmap the drives and;

Try:

1. Using UNC

2. Using IP address

3. FTP into the NAS

If none of those work, try deleting the NAS credentials in Windows Credential Manager, access the NAS in TIH 2012 enter the credentials, everything should then work again. However, there is a general compatibility problem with some Synergy NAS boxes .

Hi!

Thank you but I really do not see any option in the program to work with UNC or to enter the IP address. How can I access the IP address option?

Philipp,

I'm not sure what you mean.

Does your NAS not show up as part of your network? If it does, then when True Image asks for a file path for the image to be stored, you'd type in 192.168.x.x\NAS_NAME\folder\image.tib (x.x whatever your sub IP is for your PC network) or for UNC you would type in \\NAS_NAME\folder\image.tib

Oh ok I will try this as soon as I find the time. I was not sure where to type in the UNC or IP address since I thought when TI asks me for a file path or something I just can enter the name of the Image file and choose a folder or harddisk.

Thanks!
