ATIH 12 will not update to version 7119
I have tried to update ATIH 12 6131 to 7119. I have tried it through the program and by downloading the update directly. It is not updating.
Each time I get the message: The version you are trying to install is the latest.
The version number does not change, so it's not giving me the latest version.
Anybody else having this problem?
My service has expired, so there is no way to tell Acronis Support about this. I've used Acronis since version 9, paying for each upgrade as it came. Too bad that doesn't allow users to notify the company when their software doesn't work.
Acronis: great software, pitiful support policy.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for replying, Grover.
I don't have the Plus Pack installed.
I tried to uninstall from the Control Panel, hoping a repair option would come up. Instead, I got the message: "No Acronis True Image Home components found."
This is strange because ATIH 2012 seems to work fine. I auto-run daily and weekly backups, and Nonstop Backup is running fine.
I'm going to see if I can uninstall, or maybe use the cleanup tool. I am very leery of uninstalling and reinstalling. I've had serious problems with faulty Acronis installs in the past.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again for your help.

I also got hit.
My problem was that after a seemingly successful upgrade to the new version Acronis would not leap into view when I started it. The components seem to start, according to taskmanager, just no interface.
Here I could not uninstall: Acronis told me that I did not have sufficient rights.
I installed again, this time it acquired those rights and allowed the uninstall.
Now the complicated task of trying to reinstall what is an increasingly frustrating piece of software. Like others, I have been hit by the bug that prevents Windows from closing down because Acronis mistakenly thinks it is still doing something.

I would download the 2012 cleaner utility,
http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545
run it. Download the latest ati version (log into acronis.com, go to gt updates, and download the installer for 7119).
Before doing any of this, I'd use msconfig to disable ALL non-Microsoft services and ALL startup programs. Then I'd cleanup, uninstall/install.
http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/
use msconfig to return to normal startup when you're done.
I'd log in as admin to do these operations and install for all users.

Thanks. I had already done that before seeing this reply. It worked.
But I did not have to go through the msconfig bit.

Guess what. Another day another disaster.
Same symptoms as last time. Acronis simply will not start. No program windows comes into few when I try to do anything.
Am I expected to uninstall, clean up and reinstall every day?
I was a loyal user of an alternative backup program until I got suckered into Acronis 2011. If the "improvements" in 2012 are anything to go by, anyone who sticks around for 2013 is in for a really entertaining life.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you for your messages and I appreciate your help Grover and Scott.
David, could you please use our clean-up utility and let me know if you had any success with installing the update.
Michael, this issue could be caused by the automatic scanning of all backups, which is enabled by default the first time the program is launched.
I will send you a registry fix via a private message and I would really appreciate if you could get back to me with the results.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

I'm facing the same problem. Don't want to cleanup since I think this will also remove all my backup jobs.
Can you send me this registry fix as well?

Egbert,
Follow post #8. The registry fix is only to stop the scanning of existing TIB files, not to fix the update issue.
If you use the clean up utility, you will lose all your backup tasks, but not your backup files. Before cleaning up, you can export all your backup settings, and move the TIB files you want to keep to another directory on the same disk, to avoid a long file copy. After the reinstallation, you will be able to import your backup tasks back in and continue them. The only thing is that partial chains (incremental or differential) will start with a new full. So watch for space.
After a while, you simply manually delete the TIB files you moved to the other directory.

Hmm, followed Pat L's directions and used the cleanup utility.
Tried to reinstall using ATIH2012_7119_en-US.exe.
Installer says: "The version you are trying to install is the latest" No entry in Control Panel -> Software however.
Must be some registry setting I think. Followed all instructions in 24545: Acronis True Image Home 2012 Cleanup Utility.
Any pointers/suggestions?

Egbert,
If you are running Windows 7, try deleting the "temp" folder contents. Click on the Windows Start Button, and in the search box type %temp% and then press enter. Select everything, and then press the delete key on your keyboard to delete them. If any items are in use you will get a message that says they can not be deleted. Skip those. When finished, try to install ATIH 2012 again.

Thanks James for the quick reply. I'm indeed using W7/64bit
Cleaned %temp% directory but the message is still the same "The version you are trying to install is the latest"
I did a scan in the registry and see a lot of Acronis entries pointing to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\tishell64.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\mapi_proxy_64.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\mapi_proxy_stub_64.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\SnapAPI\vsscomproxy64.dll
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\x64\versions_page.dll
...
Although these directories/files no longer exist and probably were removed by the cleanup utility
Seems the "cleanup" isn't that thorough.

Egbert,
You should try and run the ATIH 2012 cleanup utility again. Rght-click on the filename and select run as administrator.
Also download the ATIH 2011 cleanup utility and run it as well using the same method. Sometimes this has help me, as I think the utilites are slighty different. These are just suggestions to try, but may not help.
You could delete the Acronis registry entires manually, but be careful.

Egbert, The installer is misleading with this message. In this case, it is telling you you have the right version (the latest). Try to click on "install". What happens?

Egbert,
Check if this is applicable.

@Pat L / @GroverH
Yes, this is misleading :-)
I saw the message but did not see the install button. Nevertheless, the cleanup does not seem to be doing its job.
Thanks to all!!
