ATIH 2011 Update 2 b6868 (Tasks Suck)

Thread needs solution

I had the same issues prior to a fresh install of Win7 x64 Ultimate SP1 and continue to have the same issues.

I have 1 task to perform full file backup and it's cloned 3 times to run at 5am on certain days of the week.

1. Whenever I edit a backup's settings by going to the backup task --> operations --> edit settings. ATIH appears to freeze for several moments before the settings windows will pop up correctly.

2. No matter what file name is specified in the settings it always defaults to mybackup.tib and overwrites the existing backup. I do not want it to overwrite any prior backups. I want 3 separate backups for each group. The names should be MWF, TRS, SUN, but it always defaults to mybackup.tib.

Am I missing something or am I better off going back to ATIH 2010?

You should be able to accomplish this one of 2 ways:

- the simplest one is to create one single backup task, that will run on the 3 days you specify, but will have the same name. The backup scheme should be a custom full with auto-cleaning turned on, and keeping only the 3 most recent versions. YOu can aslo use a incremental or differential, doing a new full every 2 incremental/differentials, keeping only 1 most recent version chain.

- you can also set up three different tasks, with different backup names. You should backup to different folders, then. When you specify the target folders you will be able to enter a different name for the TIB file, and the task name will follow. Your backup scheme could be single version, or custom full, with autocleaning ON and keeping only 1 most recent backup.

With ATI you can change the task name, but it doesn't change the TIB file name. To change the TIB file name, you need to click on destination, navigate to your destination folder, open it, and then edit the file name.

If you have made a lot of trials and errors, I suggest you delete all your backup tasks and start afresh.

If you choose to set up 3 different tasks with "or custom full, with autocleaning ON and keeping only 1 most recent backup. ", this is an example of how the backup scheme could be configured.
