ATIH 2012: Conflict with USB devices (Card reader and drive)
After having ATIH 2012 installed, my Windows 7 (64-bit) failed to load drivers for two USB devices on my PC - a printer build in card reader and a hard drive.
De-install/clean-up/reinstall, etc. all didn't change this. Finally had to use windows recovery (my ATIH2011 backup set was reported as corrupted) to get my drives back working.
Did anybody see the same? Ideas for a solution? Thx.

I think I have been totally shafted. I have purchased 5 licenses for 2012 TI. After racking my brain (for four nights) trying to reinstall System32/Drivers ,updating the drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling hardware , I finally found out it was that program that I thought would give me peace of mind. I am speaking about Acronis True Image Home 2012. After reading these forums I am finding out that they have been aware of this problem since early November and it has also plagued builds earlier than this one (2010,2009). I had already purchased another internal card reader and PCI card (for the 9-pin USB male header) and installed them (to no avail) when I discovered (by sheer luck) that it was Acronis. I wish they would send me a check for software, hardware and pain and suffering. As of right now they only give a workaround (which I discovered myself when I was troubleshooting), and that is to kill your computer, Insert your card and then reboot. I would venture to say, with all the other 'bigger' bugs associated with ATIH 2012, Our bug is way, way, way, way down on the list. I guess I will have to go out and buy another hard disk and actually try to install a backup to make sure that at least that part of the software works. I am having doubts. I have been reading bad things about the software not even being able to do what it's designed for.

Another work around that eliminates the reboot is to right click on card reader drive and select eject. Windows responds that the device is in user with the options to Cancel, Try Again or Continue. Select Continue, Windows responds it is now safe to remove the disk. Remove and re-insert it and VOILA, everything works as it should until the next reboot.
Not 100% but saves reboot time...

Try disabling the Acronis Nonstop Backup Service (MSConfig > Services > Acronis Nonstop Backup Service).
On my system (Dell T7500 Workstation running Windows 7 Professional 64x with Dell/TEAC media card reader), the card reader would light up when a card was inserted, and the system tray icon would acknowledge the presence of the card, but AutoPlay would not initiate, and Windows Explorer could not read the card. Disabling the Acronis Nonstop Backup Service solved the problem.
