ATIH 2012: Convert system partition MBR to GPT

I am having an issue with my disk conversion from MBR to GPT.
Currently there is one partition with Win 7 32bit installed and the second partition is empty (data moved to external drive).
I would like to backup the system and restore it onto a disk converted to GPT.
I have found online that version 2012 is capable of it and involves the following steps: by backing up the existing system, switching computer boot mode to UEFI, booting from linux-based media and recovering.
Could someone please send me a step-by-step guide for it, please?
It sounds a bit too complicated for me.
