ATIHome 2011 versus earlier versions

Thread needs solution

Hi there:

Is anyone else disappointed with the overhaul from ATI Home 2010 and the newer versions 2011 and 2012? I feel the task scheduler process was easier and more predicatable; when doing the same thing in 2011, I get weird extensions to the original filename I want for the backup (when selecting a single version option). Also, the email notification is less flexible in terms of how the email subject and body are constructed - in ATI2010, I could name the task to reflect a client's particular PC with much greater ease than ATI2011.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Thanks!

The newer interface was meant to be easier for novices to understand. Perhaps it is; some of us verterans still don't understand it. Sometimes it pays not to be able to think too much ;)

Part of the "ease" for novices comes from giving fewer choices on each screen (even it if means having to drill down farther to get at stuff) to avoid shock and awe to the novice. Novices won't find it coutnerintuitive, theoretically, because, being novices, they won't have any intuitions while use older ati vets, we've been spoiled by the earlier versions, which is part of the reason some of use still use the older versions on any machine which is old enough taht the version will work on it. Newer machines require newer versions for hardware or OS compatibility.
