Automatic cleanup fails again

Thread needs solution

The scheduled backup fails as the disk runs out of space because Automatic cleanup feature fails to perform. I have Acronis set to make 4 full backups only and store the 4 most recent versions. But it fails to make a 5th backup because it will not delete the oldest backup automatically to make room for the newest backup. I have a 500GB HD, Windows 7 x64, Intel processor. I am using Acronis True Image Home 2012, Update 2.1, build 7133. Is there a fix for this problem or am I the only person experiencing this? Thank you.

How much space do you have left on the hard drive that you are backing up to after its backed up the 4 full back ups and storing the 4 most recent versions.

i know that on my system a full back up takes about 160Gb, so if i did 4 of them and kept 4 recent versions i woould soon run out of space!

As for a fix, i would try changing the amount of full back ups you are doing & maybe reduce the amount of recent versions you are keeping, i cant say i would class this as a bug, its down to user preference and free storage space.

Sorry one last thing, i think you may have a problem if you are low on space as i think the way trueimage works is that it will produce the backup first and then try to delete the oldest one, so if you havent got enough space on the backup drive to enable it to make the 5th version then thats why it will fail the task, after all you wouldnt want it to delete the old copy first, just in case the backup failed before it finished :-0

Yes, that might be the problem, I thought Cleanup deleted the old backup first to make room for the newest backup. I will reduce the number of full backups to 3 and see how that works. Thanks.

No Problem, just keep an eye on the remaining free disc space, you should be able to work out if there is enough room for the backup schedule you have set :-)
