Hello Bob,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]
- Download SnapAPI update
- Unpack the archive and run the SnapAPISetup.msi file;
- Go through the wizard screens and hit Proceed to install the update.
- Reboot the computer to complete the changes and see if the issue remains.
If the issue persists, please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach to your post.
This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.
Thank you.

I am having this same problem. I have downloaded the SnapAPI update and it is still locking up at 8%.
I have Acronis
True Image 11 Home
Windows 7
I have tried to do a Report, but it keeps telling me I don't have enough permissions.
Please advice.
Thanks!

Hello,
I am new to this forum so hope somebody reads this!! I have been using Acronis onto external drives for years - no problems. In the middle of my backup a couple of days ago, got a message asking if I would like to update to 2011. This I did - Big mistake!! As soon as i link my external to laptop, the external kicks into action doing something (not sure what) and the log shows it is performing continous back up. I can't seem to stay in control. The laptop shuts me out for about half an hour but when it seems to have finished, nothing works, not even the task manager. It is a complete lock up. I have even waited a further period just to see if it is doing something I can't see - no good. I have to manually switch off the latop which then means a slow process in restarting. The backups do not appear to have taken place! Tried this several times now. I only want to take full backups periodically. I don't want continuous. I want to know what is happening. Can I go back to the previous version (whichever that was - not sure which now) because that worked. I use Toshiba Satellite on Vista. 4gb of ram. Ample disk space. I am not technical though!! Many thanks - I am desperate. PS I don't find it easy to post a new question on this site - very complicated!

John,
What version of ATI did you have before? It is preferable to uninstall ATI before upgrading, even before updating.
Can you restore a previous backup?

One thing you can try it to open Windows services and if Acronis Non-stop backup services is running, you can change the service from Automatic to disable. Also stop the service. If you plan on using the Non-stop option later, you will need to return the status back to its original setting.
As you are new to 2011, check out the Lite guide along the left margin. Also, in my signature below, check out the "How to's" listing.

Hello Pat L and GroverH. Thank you so much for coming back to me so quickly. I was really so pleased! Pat L - Thanks but I was a bit hesitant to remove anything at this stage as I felt things weren't going my way but I kept your idea in mind as a plan B. To GroverH - Thanks because your links provided me with all the user friendly information I needed along with your comments to enable to know what I was now doing and I have succeeded in stopping the program running away from me. I have just created two independent back ups onto separate externals and now I know how to create rescue disks. Brilliant!! Well done and thanks again. Sorry for not coming back sooner. John.
