Back up takes over 24 hours?

Hi,
I am using Acronis True Image 2009 and whilst I have had complete success with Imaging I have tried several time to back up and had no luck - I tried yesterday to back up and after 24 hours gave up (stopped it at 80% because I needed to use the computer) - I have a lot of files I know but 24 hours seems a little excessive!
