Backing Up With Acronis True Image To Two Different External USB 1TB HDs

Thread needs solution

Hello, my main issues with the Windows 7 Ultimate built-in OS backup was that it was slow and that it would have issues backing up to more than one USB external HD.

I am on a trial of Acronis True Image Home now and found it to be much faster than the Windows 7 backup. I want to have a complete internal hard drive backup and then store the external USB hard drive in an external storage space for safe keeping.

I also want to have a USB external hard drive backup that is constantly hooked up to my PC so it can be backed up at least once a week.

In case of an internal hard drive failure or other error, I want to be able to restore either of the two backups.

Can I accomplish this with Acronis True Image home and if so can you please point me in the direction of how to accomplish this? Thanks.

Sure you can. Make a backcup of the hdisk using ATI, My Computer -- backup the whole disk to the usb drive and store it in a safe place. Then make as many more backups as you want to any other drive. Any one of these backup files can then be used for a restore. It's recommended that yu keep more than one backup just in case anyon one backup file gets mucked up somehow. Each backup is a snapshot in time of hoe your source drive looked when you started the backup.

You should test the restore process on your pc by going through the steps of doing a restore right up to but not including the final Proceed step that starts right the image to the target disk. This will confirm that a restore will be possible on your PC hardare. You don't wnat the first time you NEED to restore to be your test of whether it works on your hardware!
