backing up entire computer- then restoring only part?
On my wife's computer- I have ATI 2013- I haven't updated it because I like it.
So, when I set up her computer a year or so ago- I created backups that backup everything- that is, the boot drive and the 2nd internal drive- to an external drive into a single .tib file. (and then I do a series of differential backups- then another full computer backup)
But, what if the boot drive fails- then I boot directly into Acronis- and do a restore- can I tell Acronis to restore just the boot drive or will it restore everything (both drives)?
If it's the latter- then I should give up backing up everything into a single file. Not a problem, I just thought it might be more convenient to backup everything into a single file- since I taught her to do it- and she's not computer savvy.

Thomasjk, to have it run at night- do you need to leave the computer on? In sleep or hibernate mode? If it's fully off, I presume it won't turn on. I'll read Grover's Guides.
thanks,
Joe

I leave our computer on and have it set to never sleep. You and your wife should determine the ideal time for you to run the backup. Mine is set to run at 2:00AM. See https://forum.acronis.com/forum/38609 for details to set up the automatic shutdown.
