Backup with 2012 TI won't complete

Thread needs solution

Just installed Acronis TI 2012. The install completed normally and seems compatible with all my other software (so far). I can run small file backups with no problem. However, I can't seem to be able to get a complete Partition or Drive backup to another internal drive in my system. All my drives are 1 tB, and I get no error messages. The bu starts fine, and progresses normally to 98%, then very slowly to 99%, where it sits for what is now 1.5 hrs. There seems to be normal drive activity on both drives. The Partition drive is about 24% full, and I am NOT doing a sector by sector image. Am using normal compression with a normal priority. Is this thing hung in a loop or is this a normal time for it to take to complete? No other s/w is running. Is there anyway I can read a log file without cutting of the bu?

Am on Win7 x64 with 12MB memory. As I said above, plenty of drive space. Some advice from an expert user would be appreciated.

P.S.
I have to amend my post above. The backup I wrote about above is still running, at 99% completed with 1 minute remaining. HOWEVER, it is not a partition image. Instead, I am running the first in an incremental backup chain, meaning that it is doing a full backup, as it should in a chain. I remember that 2011 would hang if Thunderbird were loaded, so I'll close out Firefox and see if anything progresses. Meantime, if someone has an answer, please respond.

OH yes, I found the log file for this backup and there are no error messages.

Well, I seem to be having a conversation with myself, but have learned something. About 1-min after closing my browser, Firefox, the backup completed normally, and probably would have done so a long time before had not the browser been open. This is aking to the problem I had in 2010 where Thunderbird stopped it from completing, but at least then TI gave me an error message. I have error messages turned on in TI but am not getting any.

Is this a bug, or is there a way to avoid having an open program stymie the backup?

Judith,

For some strange reason your post has appeared on page 3 rather than page 1, hence many people probably missing it.

I think there is a problem with the SNAPMAN driver, judging by others who have a similar, but not quite the smae problem.

I suggest the first thing to do is try a repair install of 2012, it might just be a component didn't install properly, if it turns out to be the drive instead, Acronis have said they'll be making a new version available for download via the KB articles soon.

It might also pay to raise a support ticket on the problem.

Colin,
Thanks for the suggestion. A repair install did not fix the problem. I will send in a support ticket, and hope they'll notify users when a bugfix version is available.

I tried the Synchronize function yesterday, and found it less than stellar. I was looking forward to using it but was disappointed in its implementation and its functionality. My aim was to synch certain files with my two other PCs in my home network. I set up the synch on my main computer and issued invitations to the other two. I then tried to bring the other 2 computers into the synch circle by accepting the invitations from their desktops, but neither could get into the circle. The message said," already logged in". I suspect this is because neither is running a copy of TI 2012 or they are using the same router to get out to the internet (?). Either way, I cannot spring for two other copies of 2012, or 2 licenses, and do not want to store any files in the clouds or up at Acronis. Furthermore, the interface for setting up Synchronize is not at all intuitive and I had to keep pulling up the TI Manual to find what to do next. Without the Synch function I really regret buying this upgrade. I should have stuck with 2010 which was working very well for me.
