Backup and Restore on a ssd new disk, is this possible?

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I bought this wonderful suite some months ago, it seems to have read that is possible to make a restore on a different hardware.
I have a Thinkpad t420 and I would upgrade it with a SSD disk (samsung 840 512GB), but what I want to avoid is to install everything from zero.
So the question is: from your experience, do you think is possible to doing a backup of my hard disk, install my new ssd, and doing a restore on it? Eventually just installing its drivers..

What do you think?

Thanks in advance
Fabio

Mr. Fabio,

Yes this is possible.

Make sure that you have tested your recovery CD to check it can boot your system and see both your internal and external drive containing the image.

Make sure that you have made a complete disk image - that is click on the disk icon in TI 2013 and make sure it shows the manufacturers name of the drive instead of listing the partitions, if it shows the manufacturers name you can be sure you have imaged the complete disk including the MBR.

I have a Lenovo Edge and this weekend I will be replacing the 512GB spin drive with a 256GB SSD using a full disk image and restore.

You might find you have to reactivate some software if you have programs that use the disk serial number for licensing purposes, as this of course will have changed.

Thanks a lot Colin for your reply!!! So I can finally migrate to SSD.
