backup does not start automatically

Thread needs solution

Hello
My Acronis 2014 backup doesn't start automatically on Sunday when it's supposed to. I sometimes (not always) have to click "backup now" to get it to start. It backs up my HDDs to an external NAS device (QNAP). It's supposed to create differential versions with a full backup every 5th time.

Build number is 6673.

Windows 8.1

It's now creating a backup with filename My_partitions_diff_b2_s5_v1.tib

Please post a screen capture of your backup scheme and a picture of your schedule.

The backup scheme, if set to____ Full plus 4 diff
should produce 4 diff and s5 as shown in your posting. The full will be the backup #6, 11, 16, etc.
The deletion of the oldest chain should occur seconds after creating the next __full b3, s1, v1, as the program always creates the full replacment first, before performing the deletion of the oldest chain.

Are you using a daily schedule, or are you using a weekly schedule with specific days checked?

If scheme set to ___full plus 3 diff, then it is not working correctly perhaps due to a user edit of settings.
I will await your response before commenting further.

Hi thanks for getting back to me.

I am not sure if this works - whenever I create a screenshot it sends them to Dropbox. I don't know how to change this behaviour.

Can you view these?

Schedule should be weekly on Sundays:
Differential
Create a full version after 5 diff versions
delete version chains after 7 days.
turn off automatic cleanup.

NB the problem is that the backup just doesn't start sometimes until I click "back up now"

Viewed links. Look at my signature link 5 for more help on uploading. If is very easy.

Ok. Your chain length is 6 files (1 full plus 5 diff),'
After the the 5th diff (b2s6v1) or backup #6 (i.r. the completed chain) becomes older than 7 days (more than 168 elapsed hours) .
the oldest chain will be deleted seconds after the next full which will be the b3 full backup.

The program creates the replacement prior to performing the deletion.

At the time full b3 is completed, if a full 7 days or 168 hours has not elapsed based on the completion time of the diff s6,
the deletion may be delayed until the next backup run. If deletion delayed,
you may need to create a new task and change the 7 to 6 elapsed days to make the deletion occur on the same day as the full creation.
Or, use the cleanup option "store no more than 1 recent version chain in order to get the deletion of the chain to occur same day following the full creation.
I never could edit editing a task to work correctly for me so I always stop using the old task and start a new task when changes needed.

If you have issues with the actual starting, you might want to check your NAS to make sure it is not sleeping as well as the advanced option inside the TI scheduler to make sure the option is set to keep the computer awake.

Hi
Unfortunately I don't understand your comments. What are chains? what is a diff? I just need the thing to save my data (photographs, mostly) to my NAS device.
What settings do you recommend?
NB the backup seemed to work OK until last week but it now fails. I managed to save a log file; attached.

Mark
