Backup doesn't start automatically if the device is plugged in after the configured backup time

Thread needs solution

Dear readers,

I configured my Acronis True Image Home 2012 to start a daily backup to my external hard disk at 7 pm. Everything works fine if the hard drive is plugged in before 7 pm. If it is plugged in after 7 pm, Acronis does not start the backup automatically. However, there was a time when it did. It noticed the hard drive to be connected, checked if there is any missing backup and, if so, it fechted after. Why did this change? What can I do to get back the old situation?

Big thanks in advance!

Regards,
Jens

One workaround would be to create a Windows Task Scheduler to post a reminder text message on the screen to remind you to connect the drive.

One very good solution would be to supplement TI with MVP MudCrab's "Drive Notify" program.
There is both a free version and a purchased version. The function of this program is to work with TI and it will post a message on the screen as a reminder to attach the storage disk and the backup will not begin until the storage device is attached.

Hi GroverH,

Thanks for the post and your solution. However, everything worked just fine some weeks ago. What has changed? There must be an on-board solution in True Image.

Jens, in case you never got an answer to this, under settings click on "Schedule" - mine reads "Daily ..." In the advanced section is the option you're looking for. Like you, I knew I had seen this behaviour and couldn't find it. Your post confirmed I wasn't imagining things and I dug further. Hope this helps!

Rick, Here is a copy of the current 2013 settings for that option.
