Backup done, ensuring I'm ready for a disaster?
I've setup my backup tasks that backup daily in full to an external drive.
Let's say I have to do a complete restore some day, what will I need to do this?
I've read about boot CDs, placing a copy of Acronis on the boot media, setting up a dedicated Acronis boot partition, etc..
What do I do? I want to make sure I'm ready in case I ever have to use Acronis to restore.

If it's booting into Linux, how will Linux know that my hard drives are in a raid configuration?

Robert:
First you need to read the TI help document. This is fairly big but until you understand it you will be at risk of a failed restore.
Next build and boot from the TI boot CD. Can it see your external drive and backup files?
While booted to the CD, do a verify of your last full backup. Did it verify correctly?
Now you are at least in a favorable position to do a full restore if needed.

Robert,
Sorry but I have no experience with RAID. As Fungus mentioned download the user guide and study it.

1. Which Windows version you are using?
2. Which TrueImage product are you using?
3. have you looked at your drive using Windows Disk Management to see if you have any hidden or diagnostic partitions.
4. Is your backup a disk option backup or a backup only of your C drive?
5. Using a Desktop or Laptop? If laptop, what brand>
You need to know the answers to those questions. Read as many as you can.
Check out some of the links in my signature. They provide a wealth of information. You won't know whether your backups will recover for you unless you do some testing with other test hard drives.

I'll create a boot cd and report the results.
Here are the answers to the other questions:
1. XP SP3
2. TI Home 2009, build 9796
3. Yes, none exist.
4. Backup only C drive
5. Desktop
I guess we'll know more once I test out the boot cd!
