Backup to external drive error message Event code: 0x00640242+0x00AC0041+0x00AC0040+0x01AF0006+0x01AF0005+0x00040011+0x0000FFF0+
Hi guys,
When I backup to an an external WD Passport (using USB 3) I have an error message on 2012 that I did not get on 201.
Event code: 0x00640242+0x00AC0041+0x00AC0040+0x01AF0006+0x01AF0005+0x00040011+0x0000FFF0+0x80070002
I don't want to jump to conclusions, but looking at similar event codes it seems that it might be related to using an external USB drive, or USB3, or an external USB hub... or none of these :-)
But I am guessing, and dont know cause or treatment. Can anyone help please? - I particulaly want to make a good backup.
Thanks in advance
Pete

Also, better on a rear connector than on a front connector.

Greetings Everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to post on our Forum.
Additionally, thank you tuttle and Pat L for your kind suggestions and solutions.
To help address your issue Pete Johnson, please kindly provide us with more details as to whether your external HDD is properly connected and visible from My Computer and if so has the drive letter changed at all since the time of your initial backup to, if any, using Acronis True Image Home 2012. The latter point is important as the product may have difficulties identifying one and the same drive due to a drive letter change resulting from unplugging and plugging the USB 3.0 drive anew. If this is the case and that you can recall your external hard drive possessing a different drive letter in the past, then please see this Knowledge Base article to help resolve your issue.
Moreover, the possible reason as to why you cannot backup to your external HDD may be due to your drive being inaccessible, and would require that you try to access your drive from Windows. If you are able to access your drive from your operating system directly please notify us of this likewise. For more information, please see our Knowledge Base article that touches on this issue.
The error code string that you have kindly submitted partly points to a "Failed to open data stream" error which could mean that your backup script file and/or backup database has become corrupt and therefore if you do have a chain of backups located in your USB 3.0 drive the product cannot continue on with the next line of backups. To resolve your issue please see this Knowledge Base article composed for Acronis True Image Home 2011 yet applicable for your present issue, and follow the step-by-step instructions listed therein. Should you have any difficulties performing any of the instructions within this article please do not hesitate to let me know, I will be glad to assist you.
We are patiently waiting for any details you can provide and whether the solution steps we have provided above have been of any effect to the resumption of your backup tasks.
Feel free to let me know of additional questions or issues you may have, I will be happy to address them.
Kind regards,
Volkan
