Backup Fails after 15-20 days of successful backups.

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis True image home 2012 and it runs great when i create a new job for about 15-20 days. I have 2x 1tb usb external drives that i switch out weekly. After so long the backup will start failing for no reason. I have a chkdsk/format job running once a week (When i switch the disks.) Everytime i have this issue all i have to do is create a new backup job and schedule it but it eventually begins to fail again. Any ideas on this?

Each external disk needs its own backup task as backup tasks are geared on the serial number of the storage disk.
Are you using a separate backup task for each disk?

Editing a task also has been reported as causing unpredictable results.

To help with that problem, use Windows disk management to assign a fixed drive letter for each disk, picked towards the end of the alphabet (eg X:, Y:) and give the disks recognizable labels (eg: backup1, backup2). Then set up a task with a different name for each disk, while the disk is connected.

It is one backup task and i make sure the drive is always the same letter once connected. I should have been more clear with my issue - the backup will go through all the way till the end (so it always sees that there is a drive connected.) But i will get a red x and when i check the logs it will be green all the way through until the last part where it will say "Failed to open data stream".

If you are not using build 7119 released a few days ago, you might try that but my suggestion of two tasks would still be my recommendation--even with an update.
