Kevin, the time estimates to do your backup are definitely not going to be accurate, but the time to actually do the backup depends on many things. First and foremost, the amount of data to backup, and second, the speed at which your computer can write the data to your backup destination. Other things that affect your backup speed are the compression settings within ATIH 2012, the type of backup (disk/partition or file mode), other programs running in the background, as well as the speed of your disk drives, CPU, memory speed, etc.

When I first started using the program it did not take very long to backup. I left it for over 24 hour period it had over 2 days left to go. That does not seem right. My laptop is only a year old. Please advice if you can. Thank you.

Kevin,
You say that when your first started using the program, "it did not take very long to backup". How long ago was that? How long did it take to complete a backup before? Has anything changed on your system? How much data are you backing up? What are you backing up to? What are your backup settings in Acronis? Are you doing a full disk based backup or are you doing a file based backup? Are you trying to do an online backup? Unless you have a tremendous amount of data to backup and/or a really slow destination disk/location, your backup times should not be days. Your system could have other issues that are making the backup perform very slowly. Please provide more detail about what, how, and where you are backing up.
