Backup never gets to point of backing up data

Thread needs solution

I have an HP all in one running Windows 8 that has had True Image 2013 on it for about a year. Yesterday I discovered that the backup had failed to work since last October when Windows upgraded to Windows 8.1
After researching the web I determined that it was most likely due to True Image 2013 not supporting 8.1 so I removed my True Image 2014 from my other computer and reactivated it on this HP all in one, which is my most important computer.
Same thing happened. When you start a new full backup the program appears to start and the estimated time begins to climb. Task manager never shows any disc activity and the percent icon in the taskbar never goes above zero. Still the time estimate climbs. I left for over an hour twice and it never ran.
I have been using True Image since version 6 and am very surprised at this failure.
Especially after I found out that I cannot even ask support why.
Any ideas?

Check your scheduling options to make sure the option "run only when idle" is unchecked (not enabled).
Yes, 2013 is not compatible with 8.1
